Representing the teaching profession as Parade Grand Marshal is Justin Johnson. Mr. Johnson is the Niles West High School Band Director and was named the 2021 Illinois Teacher of the Year. Mr. Johnson is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including a 2016 finalist for the Golden Apple Award and 2020 recipient of the Zemsky Teacher of the Year award for Niles West High School, and a 2020-21 Teach Plus Illinois ILSTOY Policy Fellow. Representing the fire and police professions as Parade Grand Marshals are Battalion Chief William Endre for fire and Officer Kim Blue and Social Worker Brian McHugh for police. Battalion Chief Endre is one of over 100 Fire Department members that helped the community through the COVID pandemic by answering emergency calls and staffing vaccination clinics. Officer Blue and Social Worker McHugh are part of the Skokie Police Department's new Co-Responder Team. The Skokie Police Department's two-person Co-Responder team responds to individuals in crisis, linking them to services, monitoring individuals post initial response and providing follow-up with individuals in need of ongoing services.

Grand Marshals - Alyxandra Martin, Haley Lyons, & Sue Reisberg
Representing nursing and public health as Parade Grand Marshals this year are nurses Alyxandra Martin and Haley Lyons and Skokie Public Health Supervisor Sue Reisberg. Alyx began working the emergency room at Skokie Hospital following her graduation from DePaul in 2017, and Haley started in Skokie's ER back in 2014 as patient care technician then transitioned to being a registered nurse in 2015.
Sue Reisberg is a Family Nurse Practitioner that has served with the Skokie Health and Human Services Department as a public health nurse for the last 35 years. Sue has developed partnerships with the Nurse Programs at Oakton Community College and North Park University and has worked directly with public health students and interns from the UIC and Benedictine.

Please welcome to our parade MILITARY GRAND MARSHALS: Staff Sargeant Paul Plotnick, Specialist Gerald Jaffe, and Master Sargeant Hank Gould.
A Chicago native, Paul Plotnik retired from the army with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He went on to serve our community as a Chicago Public School teacher and an Assistant Public Defender.
Growing up on the south side of Chicago, Gerald Jaffe entered the Army in October of 1968 and served in Cambodia in 1970 blocking corridors to Saigon.
MSG Hank Gould, Illinois Army National Guard He is Retired Pharmacist and served 24 years in the Illinois National Guard He is a longtime Skokie resident of close to 50 years.

144th Illinois Army National Guard Band
Led by its Drum Major, Sergeant Leslie Castro, the 144th Illinois Army National Band's mission is to provide musical entertainment for the morale of soldiers and support the local communities when possible. The band has a wide range of musical capabilities from Ceremonial band, Marching band, Concert band, Dixieland Combo, Stage band, Jazz Combo, and a variety of small musical groups.
The band is comprised of some 35 "citizen soldier" musicians from all over the state of Illinois and the surrounding area. Many of the members are students, music teachers, or otherwise associated with the music field in their civilian pursuits.
