Parade Marshal Mike Leckrone
This is Parade Marshal Mike Leckrone's fourth time leading our parade - the first was back in 1983. Mike served for 50 years as Director of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band, and received numerous awards during his career. He has left an indelible mark on the University and our entire community. We are proud he calls Middleton home. Thank you Mike!
Once again this year, we are excited to have antique tractors in our parade, pulling the sponsor trailer. GNF President Curt Fuszard
GNF President Curt Fuszard has done a fantastic job leading the Good Neighbor Festival organization over the last year. Curt is also the current interim executive director of the Middleton Chamber of Commerce, and Executive Director of Reach-a-Child, a non-profit organization that provides books to First Responders, who give them to children to help provide a way to cop with stressful and difficult situations.
Good Neighbor Award Perry Hibner
Good Neighbor Award winner Perry Hibner is the Director of Communications for the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District. Perry has been an amazing resource in solidifying the School District's relationship with the community. He has a passion for cultivating relationships among district staff, administrators, students, and parents. He represents the MCPASD with respect, integrity and excitement and celebrates the success of our school district and students. He is involved in the community, serving as a Board Member of the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District Education Foundation and the Middleton Endowment. He also serves as an usher and reader at St Bernard Catholic Church. Perry has worn many different hats over the last 20 years as a volunteer, coach, parent, committee member, director and more and has played all of these roles with great passion for the Middleton Community. MCPASD and MCPASD Education Foundation
The award-winning Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District serves more than 7,400 students from 4K through 12th grade. MCPASD ranks among the top districts in the state annually on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction School Report Cards. The MCPASD Education Foundation has awarded more than $106,000 in grants to staff since 2013 and nearly $20,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors the past four years.

Good Neighbor Award - Mathiam Mbow
Good Neighbor Award winner Mathiam (Ma-Cham) Mbow is the owner and instructor of Silver Lining Taekwon-Do in Middleton and East Madison. He teaches martial arts to children and adults, but he also teaches them what it means to be a good person, to give back and to always accept others for who they are. He promotes being your best and giving back to the community -- and sets a good example for the many who look up to him. Many parents have said that they consider him an extension of their family. Mathiam also serves the community, teaching many free Self Defense Clinics to women and MHS students. He is a former Board member of the MCPASD Education Foundation and contributes to charity events for Madisons Rape Crisis Center and Domestic Abuse Intervention Services. Mathiam arrived in Madison in the late 1990s from Senegal, West Africa with a scholarship to study English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and he shares his experiences by speaking frequently on diversity and acceptance of all individuals. Good Neighbor Award - Tom Gilbert
Good Neighbor Award winner Tom Gilbert serves the community as an Eagle Rank Advisor for BSA Troop 140 Middleton. He has mentored more than 80 Middleton youth and helped them reach their goals to become Eagle Scouts. Under his guidance, they learned to develop their scouting skills and balance the demands of a teenage life. Tom also volunteers with Middleton Outreach Ministry and with the MOSES Justice System Reform Initiative, which is working to improve conditions in the county jail, and to create alternatives to jailing people who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Tomâs leadership brings out the best in others and helps the Middleton Community continue to thrive. Congratulations Tom!
BSA Troops 140 and 40
St Luke's Church is the proud sponsor of two Scouts BSA troops. Troop 140 for boys was formed in 1959 and is celebrating its 60 birthday this year. It is one of the largest Troop in Southern Wisconsin. Troop 40 for girls was formed In February of this year and is the first Scouts BSA Troop for girls in our area. Good Neighbor Award Paul Braun
Paul Braun is a recipient of the 2019 Good Neighbor Award. Paul created a volunteer run, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization called Taking Autism To The Sky (TATTS). TATTS helps to develop social and employment skills for children with autism, by teaching them to build and fly drones. Paulâs innovative ideas have clearly made a difference for many autistic children and their families. Paul also serves the community in other ways, including as a former member of the MCPASD Facilities Committee. Congratulations Paul!

Cub Scout Pack 640
Pack 640 is a Cub Scout pack affiliated with the Glacier's Edge Council. They have over 40 Cub Scouts, boys and girls, ranging from Kindergartners to 5th graders! They are hosted by West Middleton Lutheran Church and have been for many years! They participate in a variety of activities, including outdoor activities such as camping and hiking at Kettle Moraine and Governor Dodge State Parks, indoor activities such as the Pinewood Derby and sleeping over in the USS Cobia, a retired submarine! They are also involved in our community, ringing bells for the Salvation Army and baking holiday cookies for a local assisted living community. They enjoy being a part of the Middleton community and wish everyone a happy Good Neighbor Fest!

Sailing into downtown Middleton is the Sons of Norway float from Mt. Horeb. The members who call many communities home are superheroes in their own right! They save family history and share it with the younger generations that follow. To know oneâs roots gives a child a sense of identity and a springboard to future success. The members of Vennelag Lodge cultivate the cultural skills of their ancestors by holding classes that teach baking and cooking, as well as other traditional folk art forms such as knife-making and carving. Most of all, our members like to have a good time. Roll out the lefse can be heard coming from our members today! Laying aside traditional costumes, the members are sporting casual attire today and are carrying lefse sticks and rolling pins!

Mad City Aqua Stars Synchronized Swimming Team
The Mad City Aqua Stars, ranging in age from 8-80, are Dane County's only Synchronized Swim Team. Practices are held at the Middleton Cross Plains Area Indoor Pool from September to May for both competitive and recreational teams. Most athletes end their season with regional competition in May. Our Supernova athletes have also qualified for National Junior Olympics in recent years. Also walking in todayâs parade are members of our Masters Team, who are competing at US Masters National Championships in October in Tupelo, Mississippi. Go Aquastars!
Hereâs Jonathan Bee riding his 52-inch High wheel bicycle. These bikes were popular only from around 1870 to 1890, when the so-called safety bikes with chains, sprockets, and same-size wheels were introduced. With each turn of the pedals, that big front wheel would cover a lot of ground, which made for a faster ride while also helping to smooth out the rough, rutted roads of the time. These bikes are also called penny farthings because, in old British Currency, the penny coin was very large and the farthing was very small, like the wheels on these bikes.

Formed by girls from Sauk Trail and Northside elementary schools, Troop 8055 is beginning their third year as active Girl Scouts, and their final year as Brownies. They are joined by members from their sister troop, 7356, who are beginning their second year as Girl Scout Daisies. Girl Scouts aims to build girls of Courage, Confidence and Character, who make the world a better place. They focus on giving girls opportunities to experience the outdoors and STEM, while building the skills they need to become forces for good in their community

This year's German Heritage festival will be held at the Jefferson County Fair Park in Jefferson, WI on September 13-15. Riding on the float are the 2019 King and Queen, Jeff and Tiffany Schmidt, who will reign over the festivities.

Becky & Kristina are german wheelers from the Madison Circus Space. They've competed in wheel gymnastics internationally, and love to share their joy for circus through performances, parades, and fun try-it events.

Cub Scout Pack 240 is based at Northside Elementary School. Cub scouts do events such as Rain gutter regatta and the Famous Pinewood Derby. Cripple Creek Cloggers
Cripple Creek Cloggers is a membership organization for cloggers in and around the Madison, WI area. The organization offers lessons in clogging, club dances, and has an exhibition team who perform in shows and parades. Cripple Creek Cloggers has been in existence since October of 1982, members range from age 8 to over 80. Beginner classes start every September.
