2019 Grand Marshal Courtney Lundgren Connors
The Grand Marshal, Courtney Lundgren Connors is joined by her husband, Leo Connors Jr. and their three children, Leo (6), Ava (5) and Roy (18months).
They are making it a multigenerational family day, as Courtneyââ¬â¢s father, Martin Lundgren NHFD Retired is marching with them in his NHFD dress uniform. Her mom Deborah is awaiting them all in the reviewing stand with the rest of her family and friends.
In addition, they are joined by Leoââ¬â¢s Sister, Katie Connors who is a member of the parade committee and is not only sharing this day but she and Courtney get to enjoy being a member of the committee together.
Her earliest memories of the New Haven St. Patrickââ¬â¢s Day Parade begin as a little girl, with her grandparents, watching her father march in the parade as New Haven Firefighter.
Courtney, was 2007 Parade Honor Attendant and is the first Honor Attendant to rise through the ranks to be Grand Marshal. She is the 10th Woman grand marshal and is happy to represent her home club of the New Haven Gaelic Football & Hurling club, and The Knights of St. Patrick.
During her time on the committee she served as the Corporate contributions chair for many years. She also was responsible for setting up with the Town Green District the first ever family fun zone four years ago. The fun zone continues to grow and she is happy to ensure the focus of our parade remains to make it a fun day for multiple generations of families to enjoy together.
Aside from her roles on the committee, Courtney works as an Assistant Controller for Financial Reporting at Yale University. She also indulges her love of event coordination through her own business, Courtney Connors Events, coordinating weddings and events.
Courtney resides in Hamden, CT with her husband, Leo, and their three children, Leo, Ava and Roy. Her family is a tremendous support through both her professional and volunteer roles, and she would not be able to accomplish any of this without their unwavering love and support.
Courtney Lundgren Connors was born in New Haven, CT, the daughter of Martin Lundgren and Deborah Salemme.

Pioneers of The Sacred Heart
The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association of the Sacred Heart was founded in 1898 by Father James Cullen, S.J., in Dublin, Ireland.
The primary aim of the Association is the promotion of sobriety and temperance, through prayer and self-sacrifice
In 1958 a group of young Irish immigrants living and working in the greater New Haven area decided to form a local Pioneer Center. These immigrants were all members of the Pioneers of the Sacred Heart in Ireland and wished to continue their pledge of lifetime abstinence from alcohol and drugs
Over the next fifty years many of that initial, young group of immigrants who formed St. Maryââ¬â¢s Center, remained faithful to their ideals, and in 2018 celebrated their Diamond Jubilee.
There are approximately one hundred active, local members remaining in the group today.

On December 18, 1992 Walter T. Williams III, a Waterbury police officer, was killed in the line of duty (http://www.odmp.org/officer/434-officer-walter-t-williams-iii). At the time there was no police pipe band in Connecticut. Our brothers in the NYPD Emerald Society Pipes and Drums responded and escorted Officer Williams to his final resting place. Days later a group of dedicated officers vowed to never again follow as one of their own was laid to restââ¬Â¦ they would lead from the front and the Police Pipes and Drums of Waterbury was born.
Throughout the years the Police Pipes and Drums of Waterbury has remained steadfast in our commitment to the law enforcement community. We have participated in countless law enforcement benefits, fundraisers, promotions, retirements, graduations, memorial services and funerals. The band has been an annual participant at National Police Week in Washington, DC which attracts thousands of law enforcement officers from all over the world. In fact, our reputation there has earned us the distinct privilege of being ââ¬Åhost bandââ¬Â two times, an honor not afforded to any other pipe band that we are aware of.
We have had many unique and diverse performance opportunities which have included well known celebrities and dignitaries, parades, charitable events, weddings, birthday parties and the West Point Military Tattoo. In addition, we have multiple first place, ââ¬Åbest pipe bandââ¬Â and ââ¬Åbest musical unitââ¬Â awards among many other recognitions from our participation in juried events.
Our tartan is the Scottish National Modern. We wear a ââ¬Åfull dressââ¬Â uniform for formal or special events and a less formal uniform, with variations, for other events.
