MISS WESLACO - Laryssa Raynah Garcia
Miss Weslaco, Laryssa Raynah Garcia is the city's 62nd and current reining queen. Laryssa is a senior at Wesalco EAST High School. She plans to attend Texas A & M and major in Dentistry to become an Orthodontist.
Laryssa is captain of the East Cheer Squad and she is a 2-time All American Cheerleader, a member of the Nation Honor Society, Interact Club, and Student Council.
As Miss Weslaco she raised funds for the Hydrocephalus Association with the help of her cheer squad during the Tinaco Bowl 7. While most in her city were watching a great football rivalry she united the city for a great cause. Laryssa chose this charity to honor the memory of Joaquin Philip Ellis, the son of her teacher and mentor Mrs. Ellis. Mrs. Clarissa Ellis was Miss Weslaco in 2007 and currently on staff at Weslaco East High School. Laryssa plans to have another fundraiser.

WEHS Cheer Team
The cheerleaders at Weslaco East are the most lovely and talented ladies in town. The Varsity squad was invited to participate in the 2019 Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida on January 1, 2019 for their exceptional performances at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Camp where they were awarded Camp Champions among many other awards. This All American team will have the opportunity to perform on the football field with cheerleaders from around the country. The team captain is Miss Weslaco- Laryssa Garcia and co-captains are Valerie Reyna and Giovanna Valdez. They are coached by Letty Cantu-Garcia, Jennifer Medellin and Terry Tijerina.

Wesalco East Football & Athletes
The Weslaco East Football Team has earned a place in the playoffs for 12 consecutive years. They are coached by Mike Burget and his exceptional staff. These athletes are also involved in other sports such as Power Lifting, and Track & Field. Their team motto is to "OUT HIM 'EM" and play East Football.
Other athletes riding along are the Cross Country, Volleyball and Tennis teams at Weslaco East.

The Weslaco East FFA has had an amazing start to this school year with advancements to the Area and State Level competitions in leadership development events. The Weslaco East FFA is led by their Advisors and Officers - Rolando Gonzalez and Elyssa Benavides. Officers are President Rene Torres, Vice-President Arelly Rincon, Secretary Heather Mendez, Tresurer Benjamin Bravo, Reporter Justin Castillo, and Sentinel Miguel Garza. These include: Division One's at UIL Marching Competitions; 6-time Area Marching Contest Top 10 Finalist; UIL Sweepstakes Awards. the rEgiment has performed throughout the State of Texas and the United States. They have preformed at Minute Maid park in Houston for the Houston Astros; in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area; San Antonio; two times in the McAllen Lighted Christmas Parade, and have performed at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

The Dreamettes are in their 4th year as a team and have received numerous awards within those years. This past year the Dreamettes were awarded Best in Prop and received the Supreme Award for Best Prop for an entire contest. During the summer, our officers were once again a 5-star officer line and the team were Most Admired and received the Staff Award. This year the Dreamettes had 6 members represent the Dreamettes, Weslaco High School and Weslaco ISD as they performed amongst 600 dancers from across the nation at the Macyââ¬â¢s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Dreamettes are under the direction of Mrs. Raquel Alvarado Rico.
