Buffalo High School Marching Band-"The HERD"
âThe HERDâ is celebrating its 37th year. Throughout its existence, the band has prided itself on its positive approach to competition in the marching arts. The students work hard, enjoy each otherâs company, perform as well as they can, and appreciate the efforts and accomplishments of competitors from other schools. More than anything, members of âThe HERDâ are marching band fans that believe that their participation helps to develop essential skills found in well-rounded young adults.
From Buffalo High School in Minnesota, a building of approximately 1800 students in grades 9-12, âThe HERDâ has performed in many cities in Minnesota and Wisconsin, as well as Washington, D.C, Massachusetts, Maryland, Missouri, Rhode Island, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, South Dakota, Colorado, Virginia, Alberta, and Quebec.
In addition to marching band, Buffalo High School has 160 band musicians performing in three concert bands, three jazz ensembles, pep band, symphony orchestra, winter drumline and an extensive chamber music program.
This summer, âThe HERDâ is performing âFate of the Godsâ, by Stephen Reineke.

Randolph Oilers
The Randolph Oilers are the longest continually running organization in the Eastern Football League. And to our knowledge it also may be the longest continually running semi-pro football team in the entire United States.
The team was established in 1974 by Peter and Marge O'Kane. In the 1960's and 70's most of the towns in the greater Boston area had their own "town teams" that competed on a semi-pro level. Towns, churches, and bars all had their own semi-pro teams. Initially Randolph had its own "Randolph Town Team", with the head coach being a priest. Peter O'Kane's father was actually one of the first member's of the Randolph Town Team. Peter was a running back in high school, but three weeks into his semi-pro career he suffered a career ending injury.
However eventually the Randolph Town Team team folded and for a while Randolph did not have a team to call its own. So far a time Randolph residents played on the Delaney Club, and later the locals mostly played for the Dorchester Knights.
Despite his career ending injury, Peter's love of football still burned strong. Undeterred, he eventually decided it was time for Randolph to have its own team again. And in 1974, along with Marge, he officially launched the Randolph Oilers, as part of the Eastern Football League which had been launched in 1961. The Oilers have been taking the field ever since, giving local athletes an outelt to play football after their high school and college days, where they can be part of a family and the team's long history and proud tradition.
