Hemlock Roots is a rock/alternative pop band based in Annandale, MN. The band was formed in the fall of 2017 by Lyle Fashant, Justin Heimkies, Hunter Lund, and Josh Okerman at Annandale High School on Hemlock Avenue. The group originally came together to perform at the high school's winter talent show. After months of practice, the day finally arrived for the show. Going by the name "MN Panic" the four young men took the stage and left with 1st Place!
After their initial performance, the band came back together and decided to grow their potential and see what they could become. They continued to rehearse together and after a rehearsal, Heimkies (drums) suggested that they change the name of the band. He suggested the name "Hemlock Roots" as a reminder of where the band began at Annandale High School, which is located on Hemlock Avenue.
Lyle Fashant, lead vocalist, puts it like this, "Our band was named after the street our High School was on, but I think it also serves as a reminder of where we began. As we continue to grow as a band, we never want to forget where we started."
